Topper's
Topper's Review
The Wauwinet, a lavishly restored 19th-century inn on Nantucket's northeastern shore, is where islanders and visitors alike go to experience utmost luxury, and that includes the food; chef Kyle Zachary likes to source locally as much as possible—try the succulent local lightship diver scallops—though he will go farther afield with options like the buffalo short ribs or the Hudson Valley foie gras. In the creamy-white dining room, awash with lush linens and glorious flowers, you can choose from a three-course prix fixe or à la carte menu, and more casual fare is on offer out on the deck. Inside or out, you won't be disappointed with the spectacular views. Many visitors take advantage of the Wauwinet Lady (a complimentary launch docked at the White Elephant, a sister property) to frame the journey with a scenic harbor tour; jitney service is also offered.

popsicletoes, from Massachusetts
WARNING: Topper's is prixe fixe. No where did we read this information though I read several reviews. We expected it to be expensive but there was no avoiding $100 a person before drinks, tax and tip (maybe higher now). We noticed a family with two children encountering the same problem. Unless they got up and left, they were going to pay $100+ for each child. We also found that the wait staff made an effort to inflate our bill by offering additional courses, etc. We left $700 lighter. Food is delicious but if you are led to expect something different cost-wise, it is hard to enjoy.

Melina, from London, England in origin
Amazing but miniscule portions, amazing service and setting. Some of the best food on the island but the price tag may well be too prohibitive for those on a budget.
