The Pearl

Updated 05/13/2013

Fodor's Review

With its white onyx bar illuminated a Curaçao blue and its walls awash in flowing voile, this ultracool space—a sophisticated upstairs cousin to the Boarding House—would seem right at home in South Beach. The cushy white-leather banquettes tucked behind the aquarium are the power seats. Chef-de-cuisine Liam Mackey delivers on executive chef Seth Raynor's enthusiasm for the bold flavors of Asian cuisine, especially in its streetwise guise. You may have a tough time choosing between the beef barbecue with piquant Thai chili-lime sauce and the signature wok-fried lobster—so do yourself a favor and order both. Asian-themed restaurants often disappoint in the dessert round, but not so here. Pace yourself for some esoteric dazzlers such as the mascarpone-and-chèvre cheesecake with cherry syrup and beet sorbet.

The Pearl - A real jewel!

We ate there Aug 5, 2004. Everything about the restaurant is first class. Even our very picky 16 and 20 year old sons could not stop talking about the evening! Top shelf all the way! Great food, great atmosphere, great service!

Tight seating can dampen a romantic dinner

The Pearl's atmosphere is very chic and clean. Every one seemed to be having fun. The wait staff really pampered us and we felt at ease with the way they handled our needs. The one thing that will probably keep me away is the booth like seating we had. The couple seated next to us was so close, that the man next to my wife was closer to her then I was. In fact he answered her comments faster than I could.

This Pearl Is A Real Gem

The Pearl is a wonderful place to dine. Everything was perfect. Pricey, but when everything is so good who cares. Try the "oyster shooters", simply magnificent! We're going back first chance we get.
