Edgartown's only true waterfront accommodation, with boat docks at the end of its nicely landscaped lawn, this large inn provides a central town location, harbor-view decks, and plenty of amenities. Seven two- and three-story buildings sprawl around formal rose beds, brick walkways, a brick patio, and a heated pool. Rooms have colonial-style but modern furnishings, brass beds and lamps, and textured wallpapers. Some units have terraces facing Edgartown Harbor. Pros: Steps from restaurants and shops, immaculate rooms, lovely gardens. Cons: In center of Edgartown action and crowds, it's run as condo-timeshare, lots of kids in summer.
