$$$$, Edgartown
Fodor's Review:
In the center of town, this sister property of the Harbor View combines services and amenities with a country-inn feel. A new owner for both properties has instituted a number of major improvements to the decor and facilities in 2007. The 1742 white clapboard main house and the adjacent Garden House are surrounded by pink roses. Large suites in the Chappaquiddick House and the two spacious town houses in the Wheel House have porches (most with harbor views) and living rooms. The Newes from America, a dark and cozy spot with original hand-hewn timbers and ballast-brick walls, serves typical pub victuals and microbrewed beers on tap. Pros: Lots of historic charm, pretty gardens, some harbor views. Cons: On street with lots of pedestrian traffic, pricey, frequent wedding locale.
