Thorncroft Inn Review

On 2½ wooded acres about 1 mi from the ferry, this inn's main building, a 1918 Craftsman bungalow, combines fine colonial and richly carved Renaissance Revival antiques with tasteful reproductions to create a somewhat formal environment. Most rooms have working wood-burning fireplaces and canopy beds; three rooms have two-person whirlpool baths, and two have private hot-tub spas. Rooms in the carriage house, set apart from the main house via a breezeway, are more secluded. Popular with honeymooners and those seeking the ultimate in romantic surroundings, look for perks like breakfast in bed and plush robes.
