$$$$, Vineyard Haven
Fodor's Review:
This 1924 farmhouse-style inn is tucked into a quiet lane off Main Street, minutes from the ferries and Owen Park Beach. The rooms are decorated casually with understated flair -- pastel-painted walls, softly upholstered wing-back chairs, and white-wicker nightstands. Each contains a small, wall-mounted "honor bar," with a disposable camera, suntan lotion, and other useful sundries. Three rooms have soothing whirlpool tubs, and two have fireplaces. No. 6, with a small porch and a private entrance, has the best view of the harbor. Breakfast is served at a large farmer's table inside the small common room and kitchen area. Jeff and Jynell Kristal are the young, friendly owners, and Jynell also creates whimsically painted glassware, which is available for sale. Pros: Great owners, short walk from town, easygoing vibe. Cons: You pay a premium for this location, decor is more casual than posh, books up quickly in summer.
