Fodor's Review:
This attractive resort complex, which is part of the nearby Winnetu Oceanside Resort, sits close to South Beach. Mattakesett differs from the Winnetu in that all of its units are owner-furnished town houses and condominiums with three to four bedrooms; guests at either property can use the amenities at both. All homes have fireplaces and decks. The children's programs are extensive, and the pool and barbecue grills make this a favorite for families. Bookings at Mattakesett are taken on a per-week basis only. A vintage fire truck and livery are used to shuttle you around the area. Pros: Access to Winnetu facilities, pretty good value for large families. Cons: Some units more nicely decorated than others, a longish walk from town, lots of kids in summer.
