Planning Your Time
The region can be enjoyed for a few days or a few weeks, depending on the nature of your trip. As the towns are all quite distinct on Cape Cod, it's best to cater your trip based on your interests: an outdoors enthusiast would want to head to the National Seashore region; those who prefer shopping and amusements would do better in the Mid-Cape area. As one Fodors.com forum member noted, the Cape is generally "not something to see…instead, people go to spend a few days or weeks, relax, go to the beach…that sort of thing." A full-day trip to Nantucket to wander the historic downtown is manageable; several days is best to appreciate Martha's Vineyard's diversity.
