Lamb and Lion occupies a 1740 farmhouse and barn, as well as several additions, with rooms and suites gathered around a courtyard and large swimming pool. Inside, some rooms are summery, with blue-and-white-stripe wallpaper and wicker chairs, while others are more staid, furnished with antiques and dark woods. The Innkeeper's Pride Suite has a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub that opens to a private deck; the rustic Barn-Stable, in the original barn, has three sleeping lofts that can accommodate six. Amenities include pickups and drop-offs from local ferries and the Barnstable Municipal Airport. Pros: Convenient location for area exploring, island ferry drop-offs a real bonus. Cons: Not for those looking or an in-town location or the antique-home experience.

We just returned from a four-day first visit to the Cape and had selected the Lamb and Lion Inn for us to stay (with our dog Charley). As it turned out we could not have made a better choice. Innkeepers Ali and Tom were delightful hosts and made us and Charley feel welcomed. They were so friendly and helpful, making our first visit to the Cape an informative and fun filled experience. The breakfast was excellent with special treats each day. The facilities were immaculate and service just perfect. We will return. Frank and Monta
