This former 18th-century sea captain's residence, just west of the town proper, retains its wide-plank flooring and low, sloping ceilings and has a varied selection of antiques. The original inhabitants have left their mark all over the house, from the scrawled signature of 13-year-old son Jeremiah in a closet to the framed historic documents and photographs on the walls to the namesake of each of the rooms (all Clark family women). Most rooms have queen-size four-poster or canopy beds, braided rugs, and fireplaces. The extensive gardens yield some of the fruit used in the homemade pies, muffins, and breads that are served at breakfast. Pros: Beautifully maintained, historic lodging, outdoor shower available for post-beach refresher, beaches and town center just a few minutes away. Cons: Due to the home's advanced age, some rooms are on the smaller side and are accessed via steep stairs.
