Affordable and beautiful, this 1920s Dutch Colonial overlooks Lewis Bay, a short walk from the beach. Janet Vaughn, who owns the inn with her husband, David, is an avid quilter; her works top the antique or canopy beds and adorn the walls in the country-style rooms. Each room has a name and a theme; Whale Watch, with its distinctive navys and maroons, is one of two rooms with water views. Bountiful breakfasts are served in the dining room or on the spacious front porch, which is also a pleasant place for afternoon tea and home-baked cookies. It's in a quiet residential neighborhood south of the Route 28 fray. Pros: Only one block to beach, friendly and appealing B&B feel, peaceful surroundings. Cons: Some rooms up a set of stairs, not an in-town location.
