Coast Guard Beach, part of the National Seashore, is a long beach backed by low grass and heathland. A handsome former Coast Guard station is also here, though it's not open to the public. The beach has no parking lot of its own, so park at the Salt Pond Visitor Center or at the lot up Doane Road from the center and take the free shuttle to the beach. At high tide the size of the beach shrinks considerably, so watch your blanket. There are showers here, and lifeguards are posted between June and August. A daily charge of $15 for cars or a season pass (by far the best bargain) for $45 grants admission to all six National Seashore swimming beaches.
