This 1860 house 1 mi east of Barnstable Village has four large rooms and a spacious two-room suite. Rooms are decorated with soft pastels, lacy designer linens, and tasteful hand-painted furniture. The suite, with modern furnishings, also has a fireplace, whirlpool tub, TV-VCR, and refrigerator. Breakfast is family-style and includes granola, fresh muffins or homemade coffee cake, fruit, yogurt, and an entrée that might use herbs from the inn's gardens. Although the inn is not designed for small children, you can inquire about bringing older kids. Pros: Comfortable, intimate setting, good spot for exploring nearby towns along historic Route 6A, can arrange in-room spa treatments. Cons: Some rooms have tiny stall showers, rooms accessed via steep stairs.
