Fodor's Review:

Built at the turn of the 20th century as a summer hotel, the Highland House Museum, operated by the Truro Historical Society, has 17th-century firearms, mementos of shipwrecks, early fishing and whaling gear, ship models, a pirate's chest, and scrimshaw. One room exhibits wood carvings, paintings, blown glass, and ship models by Courtney Allen, artist and founder of Truro's historical society. The museum also holds local art and artifact shows each year.
