For a scenic loop with little traffic, turn north off Route 6A in Yarmouth Port onto Church Street or Thacher Street, then left onto Thacher Shore Road. In fall this route is especially beautiful, with impressive stands of blazing-red burning bush. Wooded segments alternate with open views of the marsh. Keep bearing right, and at the water street sign, the dirt road on the right will bring you to a wide-open view of marshland as it meets the bay. Don't drive in too far, or you may get stuck. As you come out, a right turn will take you to Keveney Bridge, a one-lane wooden bridge over marshy Mill Pond, and back to Route 6A.
