Houses / Mansions, Sandwich
Fodor's Review:
Overlooking Shawme Pond is the Hoxie House, a remarkable old saltbox virtually unaltered since it was built in 1675. Even though people lived in it until the 1950s, the house was never modernized with electricity or plumbing. Furnishings reflect daily life in the colonial period, with some pieces on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Highlights are diamond-shaped lead-glass windows and a collection of antique textile machines.
