From the waterfront sights it's a short walk to one of the country's oldest public museums. The Pilgrim Hall Museum, established in 1824, transports you back to the time just before the Pilgrims' landing with its exhibition of items carried by those weary travelers to the New World. Included are a carved chest, a remarkably well-preserved wicker cradle, Myles Standish's sword, John Alden's Bible, Native American artifacts, and the remains of the Sparrow Hawk, a sailing ship that was wrecked in 1626.

A pleasing small museum located on Plymouth's main downtown street. Contains pilgrim artifacts and historic paintings. Worth a stop in, and the price isn't bad.
