Likening itself to a French bistro with American tastes, the kitchen here is modest but busy, preparing everything from scratch, including its signature hand-cut, double-dipped french fries. Local fish and shellfish dominate the menu; a favorite is the sautéed local sea scallops with leeks, garlic, and pear tomatoes over linguine. Portions are generous—you'll get eight meaty racks of baby New Zealand lamb—and prices are reasonable. Choose from 75 wines by the glass. The location is grand: up on the 2nd floor of the Whaler's Wharf complex, views of Provincetown Harbor are unlimited. It's a popular place, so expect a wait.

Ross's is always busy and bustling. The food is very good. The single issue is that the prices are as high as any in town, yet the ambiance is that of a bar, at best. Missing are table cloths and appropriate music.
