This three-story colonial-style redbrick building is steps from Plymouth's main attractions. The public rooms are lavish, with period furnishings and stylish drapes. The guest rooms are more matter-of-fact, but the six suites have hot tubs and working fireplaces; two-room suites have fireplaces and whirlpool baths. The indoor pool has a Mayflower-ship theme and an 80-foot waterslide. At its Hearth 'n Kettle Restaurant, staff in colonial attire serve a huge selection of predictable American favorites, including seafood and hearty sandwiches. In response to the ever-expanding trend toward self-indulgence, the Inn added the Beach Plum Spa in 2007, a full-service treatment center that includes the very fruit of its name into many of the soothing potions. Pros: Short walk to downtown and waterfront attractions, well-appointed rooms in full-service hotel, pool is a favorite with kids, on-site spa. Cons: Theme pool is not suited for quiet relaxation (lots of kids), not for those looking for authentic historic lodging.
