Expedition Whydah Sea Lab and Learning Center
Expedition Whydah Sea Lab and Learning Center Review
The former Provincetown Marina building, on MacMillan Wharf, holds the Expedition Whydah Sea Lab and Learning Center, a home for artifacts recovered from the pirate ship Whydah, which sank off the coast of Wellfleet in 1717. The Whydah is the only pirate shipwreck ever authenticated anywhere in the world, and the museum, though tiny, is entertaining and educational, with one display on the restoration and conservation processes and another on the untold story of the 18th-century pirating life. The curators hope to eventually collect all the recovered pieces; some are on loan to other museums across the country.
