Surfing
Truro
Longnook Beach (End of Long Nook Rd., off U.S. 6) is good for surfing.
Wellfleet
Atlantic-coast Marconi and White Crest beaches are the best for surfing. Surfboard rentals can be arranged at Jack's Boat Rental.
Eastham
Eastham's ocean beaches are great for surfing and trying out a new sport that's gaining in popularity: kiteboarding. Basically a combination of surfing and windboarding, kiteboarding is a speedy sport that will definitely get your blood pumping.
Orleans
The Lower and Outer Cape beaches, including Nauset Beach in Orleans, are the best spots for surfing, especially when there's a storm offshore. For a surf report—water temperature, weather, surf, tanning factor—call 508/240-2229.
Pump House Surf Co. (9 Rte. 6A. 508/240-2226) rents wet suits and surfboards, and sells boards and gear.
Chatham
The Lower and Outer Cape beaches, including North Beach in Chatham, are the best on the peninsula for surfing, which is tops when there's a storm offshore. Chatham does not have any surf shops, but you'll find them in nearby Orleans.
