Fodor's Review

Founded by conductor Martin Pearlman as "Banchetto Musicale" in 1974, Boston Baroque showcases soloists and guest musicians in precision period-instrument performances of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau, and Mozart operas. The holiday-season Messiah is a stunner; the 1992 CD version was the first of three Grammy nominations. Performances are held at Jordan Hall and Sanders Theatre in Cambridge; the chamber performances are at more intimate venues.
