Drag naysayers who claim that "Boston has no real Mexican restaurants" to this authentic hole-in-the-wall. Order them one of the delectable soft tacos crammed with chicken or pineapple-flavored pork, or tempt them with a rich enchilada or savory goat stew. Wash it all down with a thickly blended horchata (a cold, frappélike drink made with rice, milk, and ground almonds). Soon the guilty offenders will be thanking you while eating their words—along with everything else. Odds are they won't even comment on the perfunctory decor.

Very good Mexican spot, has as authentic a take on this cuisine as you'll find in the area. Very good food at reasonable prices, rather grubby digs, OK service. The place has been up for sale the last couple years and may close if it gets sold -- check first to make sure it's still open. In a rather dicey area of Jamaica Plain, exercise caution after dark and at this T-stop in general.
