Tiny Baraka may be atmospherically challenged, but after a few bites you won't care. Chef-owner Alia Rejeb was born in France and raised in Tunisia—a fact reflected sharply in her menu. Imagine a smoky, creamy dish of peppers awakened with mint, oregano, and cheese (mechouia) or a spice-laden deep-chocolate cake, redolent of star anise. Make a meal from the selection of small plates or try an entrée of couscous or marinated vegetables. No alcohol is served.

One of very few North African spots (Tunisian, with French influences) in the Boston area. Very good and unusual food, try the lemonade with rose petals. Decor is rather functional, seating can be tight, service can be hit or miss. Still, worth finding.
