Bella Luna
Bella Luna Review
After being priced out of its former Jamaica Plain digs, this 18-year-old restaurant-cum-nightclub moved to a new spot nearby. Not much has changed: sci-fi jokes are still sprinkled across this spot's spaced-out menu of eccentric pizzas, calzones, and Italian standards. Menu favorites remain, including the "Pizza Menino" (named for the city's mayor), topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and peppers, and the "Diedre Delux," which mixes dried cranberries, caramelized onions, and Gorgonzola cheese. Works by local artists line the walls, and local musicians provide the music in its lounge, the Milky Way. (The weekly schedule ranges from jazz to salsa.) The only reason to mourn Luna's old location? The new space has no room for a bowling alley.

A combination restaurant and lounge complex, mildly earthy and not slick at all. Respectable service. Makes arguably the best pizza in Jamaica Plain. A good area option.
