Sheraton Commander

Fodor's Review:

The beloved, aging Harvard Square Hotel, with its signature neon light, finally got a face-lift. Rooms and most public areas have been updated with classic furnishings and handsome, jewel colors. It's got great bones and a fab location, minutes from Harvard Square. History buffs will appreciate the lovely arches found throughout the building and elegant touches, such as the bi-level ballroom, with a carved ceiling and gilt mirrors. Colonial-style rooms, some with four-poster or canopy beds, rocking chairs, and fireplaces, add to the historic flavor. Pros: Historical landmark with period architecture and detailing; helpful, knowledgeable staff. Cons: Small bathrooms, some rooms have views of the parking lot, extra charges for newspaper, in-room Internet access, and local calls add up.

  • Hotel Details: 175 rooms, 24 suites

  • In-hotel: restaurant, room service, bar, gym, laundry service, Internet terminal, public Wi-Fi, parking (paid).
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V
