Sheraton Commander

Fodor's Review:

The beloved, aging Harvard Square Hotel, with its signature neon light, finally got a face-lift. Most rooms and public areas have been updated with classic furnishings and handsome, jewel colors. It's got great bones and a fab location, minutes from Harvard Square. History buffs will appreciate the lovely arches found throughout the building and elegant touches, such as the bi-level ballroom, with a carved ceiling and gilt mirrors. Guest rooms are comfortably modern, though, with Internet access (free on Club level and in suites) and cushy leather lounge chairs. If you book a standard room, don't pay for Internet access; log on for free at the workstation in the lobby. Pros: historical landmark with period architecture and detailing; helpful, knowledgeable staff. Cons: small bathrooms; some rooms have views of the parking lot.
