$$$-$$$$, Cambridge
Fodor's Review:
You don't have to be an alumnus to enjoy the handsome, hushed elegance of this hotel, which borders Harvard Yard and has a Georgian-style brick exterior that mirrors many of those on campus. The skylighted atrium, used as a lobby, restaurant, and meeting space, is studded with sculptures and fine woodwork, and a comfy hangout for Harvard executives and visiting parents and profs. Rooms have classic furnishings, with understated black, brown, and neutral fabric and wall colors. Oversize windows frame views of Harvard Square or Harvard Yard and help give rooms a bright, cheerful feel; many rooms have tiny balconies, and others have window seats. Pros: Quiet oasis in midst of bustling Cambridge/Harvard University, rooms all have flat-screen TVs. Cons: Smallish bathrooms, tiny gym with four machines in a converted room, might be a bit stuffy for some.
