Some call it cookie-cutter bland, but those who have lucked into good deals via the Internet praise this hotel's location and convenience. Get similar online deals and you won't mind sharing the parking garage with Prudential Center shoppers or drinking from paper cups in the Club Floor lounge. The two 29-story towers, topped with the bright Sheraton sign, can be seen from just about anywhere in Back Bay. The property sheds the stuffy Boston historical look for a more-contemporary style. Open public spaces are decorated with modern artwork. Rooms have large work areas and wide windows with panoramic city views (those facing the Christian Science Center or the Charles River have the best). Book a room in the South Tower, if you can, since these rooms were among those recently renovated. All rooms have sleigh beds with pillow-top mattresses, elegant white cotton linens, feather pillows, down comforters, and large mirrors. The health club's pool, one of the largest in Boston, is a real bonus with its light-filled atrium and retractable roof. Pros: Free Internet in the lobby, nice rooms in South Tower, location is handy to restaurants and shopping. Cons: Rooms near Club Floor lounge are noisy, some say porters are surly and unhelpful.
