What this neighborhood needed most took a long time to get here, but there's finally a quick stop for barbecue, complete with a range of sauces and styles. The pit resides in the kitchen but the enticing, smoky aroma fills the whole high-ceiling space. Everything from pulled pork to spare- and baby back ribs to hickory-roasted chicken can be smothered in the sauce of your choice. There is also a bar to sit at that's covered with old soul and blues album covers.

Not the best barbecue joint in the Greater Boston area (East Coast Grill, Blue Ribbon BBQ, Redbones, and Uncle Pete's are all as good or better), but for Boston proper, this is your best bet. About the only BBQ spot locally that offers a North Carolina style mustard-based sauce among its options. It won't make you forget great Southern or Midwest BBQ, but it's pretty decent nonetheless.
