This tiny, subterranean space is brick lined and warm—a cozy place to try dishes from all over India. The owners, longtime residents, decided to open a restaurant that truly represented their homeland cuisine, hence the chat (warm vegetarian or chicken salads) dishes aren't filled with creamy yogurt, but marinated lightly with fresh ingredients, and all of the dishes are made to order. Lamb chops bhunna masala are a sweet, spicy trio of chops served on a crescent-shape plate. A small selection of Indian wines is also available.

Arguably the best Indian restaurant in the Greater Boston area, as close to a top London-style Indian place food-wise as you'll find here (India Quality in Kenmore Square is the only spot to really rival it). Excellent food, above average service, claustrophobic basement location. The one Indian place to try if you try no others.
