Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity

Fodor's Review:

One of the largest single collections by and about an American woman is housed at this library within Christian Science Plaza, along with two floors of exhibits celebrating the power of ideas and highlighting the link between spirituality and health. The library is home to the fascinating Mapparium, a huge stained-glass globe whose 30-foot interior can be traversed on a footbridge. You can experience a sound-and-light show in the Mapparium and learn about the production of the Christian Science Monitor in the Monitor Gallery. The Quest Gallery explores Mary Baker Eddy's life and encourages others to think about their own personal quests, and the Hall of Ideas showcases the ideas of the world's greatest thinkers in a virtual fountain.

  • Cost: Hall of Ideas and 3rd-fl. library free, exhibits $5
  • Open: Tues., Wed., and weekends 10-5, Thurs. and Fri. 10-9
