Kendall Hotel Review

You might think a place in such a high-tech neighborhood would be all stainless steel and chrome. Think again. The Kendall Hotel is homey and ultrafriendly, bright-hue and lively. Based in the former Engine House 7 fire station, it is stuffed with related memorabilia. Owner Charlotte Forsythe loves all collectibles, so an antique Chinese checkerboard, a ceramic Dalmatian, and a whimsical grandfather clock contribute to the mishmash decor. Rooms are done up in Easter-egg hues, and a seven-story addition includes an enclosed rooftop lounge, eight deluxe rooms, and four suites with kitchens perfect for families. On Monday through Thursday evenings the hotel hosts a wine hour on its seventh floor. Bonus for workout buffs: free guest passes to nearby gym, Fitcorp.

We had a lovely stay at the Kendall over the 4th of July. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was quite good.

This is somewhat of a no-frills hotel. There is no valet parking, bell service, concierge, or room service. But its clean, comfortable, and the staff was fine. The location is excellent, right next to the Kendall T stop, and on the edge of the MIT campus.
