Vietnamese noodle soup called pho is the name of the game in this quick-and-casual eatery (it's set inside a mall in Harvard Square). At less than $10, it's a meal unto itself. Get it filled with chicken, shrimp, or beef, steaming hot in a big bowl. Fresh salads and stir-fries are offered as well. It's all notably fresh fare, and, even better, it's healthy, without gloppy sauces, and many of the dishes are steamed.

This used to be part of the Pho Pasteur chain, now a limited chain of its own with this outpost in Harvard Square. Decent food, about the only option in that city for this cuisine, with functional service and blah decor. It's OK -- one can certainly spend more money and do worse in the area.
