Fodor's Review

What started as a simple neighborhood beer bar has reached cultlike status for Brookline-ites and beyond. Serving more than 175 out-of-the-ordinary and artisanal beers, the bar also offers tasty sandwiches, smaller entrées, and main dishes (try the lobster mac and cheese), many of which have beer incorporated into them, such as the steamed mussels (served with golden frites). An adjacent taproom—the Monk's Cell—specializes in Belgian brews. Weekend nights find long lines, but one taste of the city's only "cuisine à la bière" is absolutely worth it. Lunch is available on Saturday and Sunday, and although there are no desserts, you can find an ice cream shop and pastry café across the street.
