Fodor's Review

Barbara Lynch, the queen of Boston's dining scene (see also No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop), had the foresight to create a culinary triad in the city's burgeoning Fort Point Channel neighborhood: the posh restaurant Menton, the adjacent below-street-level bar, DRINK, and the upstairs Italian trattoria Sportello, modeled after a diner. With a clean, white, lunch-counter look, Sportello belies its minimalist design with rustic, market-fresh fare like deep bowls of truffled gnocchi with peas and plates of spicy smoked pork with roasted onions and farro. The bakery area has now morphed into a wine bar offering increased seating for 18 more diners and a tantalizing selection of artisanal wines.
