In the revamped Liberty Hotel—the former site of the infamous Charles Street Jail—this Beacon Hill hot spot has a prison-chic vibe, complete with barred windows and a sign on the wall reminding patrons that "crime doesn't pay." The restaurant's Italian fare, however, is anything but institutional: the house-made mozzarella bar, crusty pizzas, and handmade pastas are all exceptional. Take note of the King Crab Cocktail: thick slices of Buffalo mozzarella cheese and
slices of avocados mixed with warm buttery Alaskan King Crab and drizzled with the house-made mild wasabi aioli. Chef Lydia Shire's creative menu is complemented by a sleek orange bar, curved white-leather booths, and one of the city's most beautiful crowds.
