Fodor's Review

At the corner of two avenues (Commonwealth and Massachusetts), which is how this restaurant got its name (deux is French for "two"), you'll find this snazzy, dark-wood enclave serving sophisticated combos of local ingredients, like lobster gnocchi with grapes and walnuts, which sounds odd, but works beautifully. Chef-owner Chris Coombs, who recently opened the steak house Boston Chops, is the culinary mastermind behind this self-described "neighborhood restaurant" that's garnered a following far beyond its Boston zip code. Coombs's juicy duck with lentils and prune-Port gastrique along with his succulent spiced lamb are as irresistible as his friendly personality and winning smile. For tipplers, the thoughtfully crafted wine list offers an interesting mix of bottles priced affordably.
