A good alternative to chain-owned, big-box Back Bay hotels, the family-owned Lenox with top-notch service continues to please a well-groomed clientele. A T stop is right across the street, making the hotel a good launching pad for exploring the city sans car. Readers appreciate the Lenox's sweet, small touches, like cookies and bottled water at turndown service, and give kudos to the friendly staff. Standard guest rooms have custom-made furnishings, marble baths, and flat-screen TVs (suites have mirror TVs in their bathrooms). Of the 24 more spacious corner rooms, 19 come with working fireplaces.

I was shocked to read this review after returning from another wonderful trip to Boston. I question when the last time Fodor's has actually stayed at The Lenox, for there are a good number of incorrect facts in this review. I have been staying at The Lenox periodically over the course of several years, so I have gotten to see it grow immensely. For example, the rooms were, to my knowledge, just renovated, so, while they may have been a little faded
a couple years ago, they are brand new now. Also, there has been a mini-fridge with a couple of complimentary bottles of water inside along with a safe in every room I've stayed in at The Lenox since the last two or so years. While the hallways and the rest of the hotel was blue-colored inside a few years ago, that has long since been updated. I have always regretted every time I went to Boston but didn't stay at The Lenox. First and foremost, the service is impeccable - everyone always greets you with a smile and a friendly hello and seem genuinely interested in the well-being and happiness of their guests. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the Back Bay and is next to the best dining and shopping areas in the city. The rooms are also gorgeous and the beds extremely comfortable. While I like Solas for it's casual atmosphere, the steaks and chicken drumettes at Azure are superb! My only quibble with the hotel is that there is no in-room coffee! There is complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning, but it's nice to just wake up and make it for yourself. It's not just me who disagrees with Fodor's comment that the service can be chilly. Check out the reviews on other sites and you'll see that warm service is the thing The Lenox is most often praised for. Fodor's has really missed the mark on The Lenox. I think it's time they paid them another visit!

Stayed at the hotel with my family. Beds were so comfy. The desk clerk made my daughter so welcome with a stuffed Lion. The Lenox is now her favorite hotel. The concierge helped with getting around Boston and tickets to the Celtics.We walked almost everywhere. Each time we entered the hotel the staff remembered our names. The Lenox made us feel like family. We'll be back.
