Fodor's Review

The 200-acre summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood attracts thousands every summer to concerts by world-famous musicians. The 5,000-seat main shed hosts larger concerts; the more intimate Seiji Ozawa Hall (named for the famous conductor) seats around 1,200 and is used for chamber music and solo performances. One of the most rewarding ways to experience Tanglewood is to purchase lawn tickets, arrive early with blankets or lawn chairs, and enjoy a picnic under the stars. Except for the occasional big-name concert, lawn tickets cost less than $20. Inside the shed, tickets vary in price, with most of the good seats costing between $38 and $120. Consider attending an open rehearsal, offering the same music at a fraction of the price.
