Custom-crafted Amish canopy beds, gas fireplaces, and high-end fabrics decorate the top rooms at this immaculately kept, two-story motor inn, one of several modern hotels and motels along U.S. 7. The more economical units contain attractive, if nondescript, country-style furnishings and such useful amenities as coffeemakers and irons with ironing boards. If you can, avoid the wings of the motel and stay in the main building for a nicer, less motel-y experience. Pros: convenient location to attractions, good value, clean. Cons: closer to Pittsfield than Lenox; some rooms smell musty, dreary pool area.
