Built in 1948, this guesthouse contains a fine collection of art on loan from Williams College. The former owners, who gave part of their own art collection to the college, donated the 296-acre property to the Trustees of Reservations, which runs it as a B&B. The large windows in the guest rooms have expansive views of the grounds. Three rooms have private decks; two rooms have working tile fireplaces. The East Room has the best views of Mt. Greylock, while the Gallery Room has the best art. You can prepare your own simple meals in the pantry. The grounds, open to the public, have 4 mi of hiking trails. Pros: great views of the Berkshires, luxury (Frette) robes and towels and high thread-count linens, free coffee and soft drinks. Cons: no TV in rooms.
