Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum Review

Built in 1893, Ventfort Hall was the summer "cottage" of Sarah Morgan, the sister of financier J.P. Morgan, and appeared in the film "Cider House Rules". Lively, information-packed tours offer a peek into the lifestyles of Lenox's super-rich "cottage class," and although the property is under restoration, many rooms are open, showing original stained glass and woodwork. The museum has rotating exhibits that explore the role of Lenox and the Berkshires as the era's definitive mountain retreat. Occasional evening plays and concerts are presented.
