Built by a wealthy industrialist in 1871, and now on the National Register of Historic Places, this handsome inn has all the comforts of home, including a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks. The inn's grand entryway and its formal sitting room make the eight luxury guest suites a surprise: they're outfitted with comfy, overstuffed chairs, fireplaces, and stacks of books, and not a whit of stiff formality. Although the inn is located on a fairly quiet side street, it's a short walk to the Colonial Theatre and the Berkshire Museum. Pros: spacious rooms, complimentary beverages in mini-fridge, full hot breakfast. Cons: formal sitting room isn't comfortable for lounging.
