This rustic lodge was built atop the state's highest peak by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It is named in honor of Rev. John Bascom, one of the first commissioners of Mt. Greylock State Reservation, who called the mountain "our daily pleasure, our constant symbol, our ever renewed inspiration." Stone fireplaces, soaring ceilings with hand-cut oak beams, and a porch with large windows provide an ideal atmosphere for enjoying the finest views in the Berkshires. The lodge has everything from coed dorms that accommodate nine guests to private rooms. Bathrooms are shared and individual shower units with adjacent changing areas offer privacy. Blankets, sheets, pillows, and towel are provided. Dinner is served family-style, and is sure to satisfy the heartiest appetite.
