Crisp walls, warm tile floors, and tall windows are bright and inviting in this stylishly modern French bistro, which feels like a country house in Provence. The kitchen turns out expertly prepared and refreshingly simple classics like steak frites (with fries), coq au vin, and grilled pork loin with collard greens and baby turnips. The long, zinc-topped bar, always full and determinedly sophisticated, is the best Lenox can offer for nightlife.

Good food, but a little pricey.
