Jacob Rohrbach Inn

Jacob Rohrbach Inn Review

Clues to the 200-year-old structure's rich past are sprinkled throughout the inn. The initials "WR" and the date 1835 are inscribed on horsehair plaster in a storeroom. A small cannonball, fired during the Battle of Antietam, flew into a wall in the summer kitchen. Some report hearing the ghostly footfalls of Rebel soldiers who shot the inn's namesake as he lay in his bed. Each of the five elegantly appointed rooms pays tribute to an aspect of the home's history. Four have private porches that look onto the inn's lush flower gardens. Breakfast includes fruit and eggs from nearby farms, pastries baked on-site, and breads from Mennonite bakeries. Pros: fascinating history; Federal-style inn. Cons: standard rooms only.
