Emmitsburg

Tucked among the verdant foothills of the Catoctin Mountains, Emmitsburg is a sweet small town with a distinctly Catholic flavor. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint, founded the country's first order of nuns here in the early 1800s. Today the quaint streets and well-maintained historic homes are enlivened by students from Mount St. Mary's University.
