Specializing in homemade, inventive pasta dishes, La Tavola is a cut above other Little Italy spaghetti houses. Don't miss the mafalde alla fiorentina, wide pasta with spinach, ricotta, pine nuts, and raisins in a nutmeg-flavor cream sauce. Veal cannelloni in béchamel tomato sauce is another standout. If you're still hungry after one of La Tavola's generous plates of pasta, the fresh fish is a good bet, as is the roasted veal chop.

We went here a week ago because of all the rave reviews. Well, we soon realized that those reviews were ancient. The atmosphere is still beautiful and the food still great, but the portions were very small. Everyone in our party agreed. I know we didn't order from the kid's menu! The prices are very steep for what you get.
