Port Discovery—The Baltimore Children's Museum

Port Discovery—The Baltimore Children's Museum Review

At this interactive museum, adults are encouraged to play every bit as much as children. A favorite attraction is the three-story KidWorks, a futuristic jungle gym on which the adventurous can climb, crawl, slide, and swing their way through stairs, slides, ropes, zip-lines, and tunnels, and even cross a narrow footbridge three stories up. In Miss Perception's Mystery House, youngsters help solve a mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Baffeld family by sifting through clues; some are written or visual, and others are gleaned by touching and listening. Changing interactive exhibits allow for even more play.

Have you ever said "I wish they had a place like this when I was growing up?" This is it, a three story urban treehouse with slides, rope bridges, craines to play with, zip lines... It was a blast, and I am 31! For smaller children there is a smaller version off to the side in a quieter area, there are other side rooms with plenty to do if you get tired of climbing and there is even an mini-indoor soccer field. I would recommend calling to see how many birthday parties they have scheduled and rainy days always result in a packed house. But, they have a membership package that allows for free return trips and entrance into other parks and museums around the country if you want to pay a bit more up front.
