Fodor's Expert Review Center Lovell Inn & Restaurant

In summer, the best tables for dining at this eye-catching cupola-topped 1805 property—about 15 miles northeast of Bridgton in quiet Center Lovell—are on the wraparound porch, which has sunset views of the White Mountains. Inside, one dining room has mountain views and the other an original iron fireplace that warms diners on cold nights. Herb-crusted rack of lamb, pan-seared filet mignon, and fresh swordfish are menu mainstays; fillet of bison is a welcome occasional special. Eight homey guest rooms and one two-bedroom suite (lodging is year-round) are upstairs and in the adjacent Harmon House.
